On Thursday, President Joe Biden took to X to proudly highlight the numerous instances in which he has utilized executive action to implement gun control measures, bypassing the need for Congressional approval.
My administration is taking the crisis of gun violence head on.
I’ve signed more executive actions on gun violence than any president in history and the most significant law to address gun violence in almost 30 years.

In April 2021, Biden initiated executive measures aimed at gun control in response to what he referred to as a widespread “epidemic” of gun-related crimes in the nation. These actions encompassed limitations on “ghost guns,” advocacy for red flag laws, reclassification of AR-15 pistols, and the initiation of gun trafficking research led by the Department of Justice.
Since that time in April 2021, Biden has persistently employed executive action as a means to address the issue of gun control, particularly when faced with Congress’s reluctance to pass new legislation. Notably, he has openly expressed pride in his utilization of such measures.
Back in August, Biden had also bragged in a similar manner:
Since I’ve been in office, I’ve signed more executive actions to reduce gun violence than any of my predecessors.
Earlier this year, I signed an executive order to ramp up our efforts to hold the gun industry accountable, keep firearms out of dangerous hands, and more.
