An Australian infectious disease expert has dismissed suggestions that Pfizer and Moderna should follow AstraZeneca’s lead and withdraw their COVID-19 vaccines.
AstraZeneca recently withdrew its vaccine due to a surplus of available vaccines and a decline in demand, as well as facing a class-action lawsuit over alleged injuries caused by the vaccine. The vaccine has been linked to a rare but serious side effect called thrombosis with thrombocytopenia (TTS).
However, the expert states that the benefits of mRNA vaccines, like Pfizer and Moderna, outweigh the risks and that these vaccines are considered better products.
Meanwhile, critics have questioned whether Pfizer and Moderna should also be withdrawn due to recent studies linking their vaccines to myocarditis and pericarditis.
Ohā¦government assured safety.
