At Least 3 People Dead After Semi Crashes Into Bus Carrying Students on Ohio Highway

A semi-truck rear-ended a charter bus carrying students from a high school on an Ohio highway on Tuesday morning.

The collision resulted in three fatalities and 18 injuries, as reported by an emergency official.

The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. on I-70 near state Route 310, just south of Pataskala.

Licking County Emergency Management Agency Director Sean Grady said the charter bus was transporting students from a school in eastern Ohio to the Ohio School Board Association conference in Columbus. There were a total of 57 people onboard, he said.

The reason for the crash was not immediately clear

Five vehicles were involved in the crash.

Eighteen people were transported from the bus to seven hospitals.

The bus was carrying Tuscarawas Valley students and chaperones to an Ohio School Boards Association conference in Columbus. The association canceled the conference in light of the crash.

Those who were injured were being treated at five hospitals.

It is unclear what caused the crash.
