Former President Bill Clinton has reignited concerns over his health after he and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were spotted leaving the Hamptons carrying what appeared to be a portable defibrillator.
The 79-year-old ex-president was seen Thursday with a Propaq MD Air Medical Bag, a lightweight transport monitor and defibrillator, while accompanied by his security detail at a local airport.
Clinton wore a blue jacket and tan hat, while Hillary dressed casually in a sweatshirt layered over a blue two-piece outfit.
History of Heart Problems
Clinton’s health has been the subject of scrutiny for years. He underwent quadruple heart bypass surgery in 2004 after doctors discovered near-total arterial blockage.
In 2010, he had a stent inserted following chest discomfort.
In more recent years, Clinton has been hospitalized multiple times.
In 2021, he was admitted for a urological infection that spread to his bloodstream.
Last Christmas, he was discharged from MedStar Georgetown University Hospital on Christmas Eve after being treated for the flu.
Congressional Subpoena
The Clintons are also in headlines due to an ongoing congressional investigation into the government’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case.
On Aug. 5, both were subpoenaed by the House Oversight Committee to testify in October.
Bill Clinton is scheduled to appear Oct. 14, while Hillary is expected Oct. 9.
Neither is currently under investigation, but their testimony may explore connections to Epstein and other high-profile figures.
Clinton on Epstein
In his memoir published last year, Clinton admitted to flying on Epstein’s private jet but said he regretted ever meeting him.
“Traveling on Epstein’s plane was not worth the years of questioning afterward. I wish I had never met him,” he wrote.
