U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi has fired a Department of Justice paralegal after she was caught repeatedly making obscene gestures toward National Guard members and bragging about it to colleagues.
Elizabeth Baxter, a paralegal specialist in the Environmental Defense Section of DOJ’s Environment and Natural Resources Division, was terminated Friday.
Bondi’s termination letter stated: “You are removed from your position of Paralegal Specialist, GS-0950-11 … and from the federal service, effective immediately.”
Pattern of Misconduct
Baxter allegedly flipped off a guardsman at the Metro Center station on Aug. 18 and told a DOJ security guard she had shouted “F*** the National Guard.”
Later that same day, she was caught on DOJ security cameras making the gesture again and saying, “F*** you.” On Aug. 25, she allegedly repeated the behavior and told a guard that she “hated the National Guard” and told them to “F*** off.”
Tied to Earlier Incident
Baxter worked in the same building as Sean Charles Dunn, another DOJ paralegal fired earlier this month for allegedly throwing a Subway sandwich at a federal agent.
Both incidents prompted swift disciplinary action from Bondi, who has emphasized restoring professionalism within the DOJ.
Bondi’s Response
Bondi said Baxter’s conduct was unacceptable and unprofessional. “Federal employees are expected to conduct themselves with integrity and respect, particularly toward those who serve to protect them,” she said in her decision.
