Georgia Daycare Worker Charged with 1st-Degree Child Abuse for Beating Baby Boy

A Georgia daycare worker was arrested Monday after allegedly beating a one-year-old boy at Little Blessings Child Care in Bainbridge, leaving him with a black eye and facial lacerations, according to WCTV.

Charges and Bond

Authorities identified the suspect as 54-year-old Yvette Thurston, who now faces first-degree aggravated battery and three counts of felony child abuse.

Thurston was booked into Decatur County Jail and given a bond of just $44,000. Records show she has already bonded out.

First Day at Daycare Turns Tragic

The victim, baby Clay Weeks, was reportedly assaulted on his first day at the daycare. He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation following the attack.

Police confirmed they have reviewed surveillance video of the beating, though the footage has not been released publicly.

Community Outrage

Photos shared on social media show the toddler with severe injuries, sparking outrage at how quickly the suspect was able to post bond.

The case remains under investigation by Bainbridge Public Safety.
