First Lady Melania Trump is threatening to sue Hunter Biden for $1 billion after he falsely claimed she met President Donald Trump through Jeffrey Epstein.
The allegation was made during an August interview with Channel 5 host Andrew Callaghan, in which Hunter Biden said, “Jeffrey Epstein introduced Melania, and that’s how Melania and the first lady and the President met.”
Legal Threat From Melania’s Attorney
Melania’s attorney, Alejandro Brito, sent a letter on Aug. 6 to Hunter Biden and his lawyer Abbe Lowell demanding an immediate retraction, removal of the statements, and a public apology.
“Failure to comply will leave Mrs. Trump with no choice but to pursue any and all legal rights and remedies available to her to recover the overwhelming financial and reputational harm that you have caused her to suffer,” Brito wrote.
Melania met Donald Trump at a Fashion Week party in New York City in 1998, years before Epstein entered the political scandal spotlight.
Second Legal Action Over Epstein Claim
This is not the first time Melania’s legal team has fought back against defamatory Epstein-related claims. Earlier this month, The Daily Beast retracted and apologized for an article by Michael Wolff that made similar false allegations.
The outlet deleted the piece, scrubbed the URL, and issued an editor’s note after Melania’s lawyer challenged its “headline and framing.”
Background on the Retraction
In the deleted article, Wolff alleged without evidence that Melania was “very involved” with Epstein’s circle and had been introduced to Trump through a “model agent” connected to both men.
The Daily Beast admitted the piece was inaccurate and removed it from its website entirely.
