FBI Fires Ex-Acting Director and Senior Officials Involved in Jan. 6 and Trump Investigations

The FBI has fired former Acting Director Brian Driscoll and several other senior officials tied to the January 6 investigations and long-running probes targeting President Trump and his allies.

Among those dismissed are Steve Jensen, who had been leading the FBI’s Washington Field Office, and Special Agent Walter Giardina — known for going after Trump advisor Peter Navarro. According to reports, more firings are expected in the coming days.

Top Brass Out

CNN confirmed Thursday that both Driscoll and Jensen are being removed.

Driscoll served as acting FBI director before the appointment of current Director Kash Patel.

Jensen, as head of the Washington Field Office, played a central role in overseeing high-profile political cases.

Sources told CNN the firings are part of a broader move by the administration, which has also removed other agents perceived as hostile to Trump.

Refused to Comply

Earlier this year, Driscoll reportedly resisted efforts to hand over a list of agents involved in the January 6 and Trump investigations.

That list — containing over 5,000 FBI employees tied to more than 2,400 cases — was compiled through the bureau’s internal case tracking system.

NBC News reported that while the list didn’t include agent names, each individual was linked to a “unique employee identifier.”

The Justice Department can still match those numbers to real names via payroll data.

According to CNN, Driscoll eventually complied and sent the list to the DOJ — but did so using a classified system, keeping the information shielded from wider internal circulation.
