Edward Coristine, a 19-year-old law enforcement supporter and former government staffer, was brutally attacked by a group of 10 teenagers in Washington, D.C., early Sunday morning after putting himself between the mob and his girlfriend during an attempted carjacking.
Coristine, known online by the nickname “Big Balls,” is being hailed as a hero for pushing his girlfriend into the car and taking the beating himself. The couple was confronted by a group of teens who reportedly made threats about taking their vehicle.
According to the police report, Coristine took action to protect her, closing the car door behind her before being surrounded and violently assaulted.
Trump: “We Will Take Federal Control If Needed”
President Donald Trump responded swiftly and forcefully to the incident, posting a photo of Coristine’s battered face on Truth Social Tuesday evening and threatening to federalize Washington, D.C. if city leaders fail to bring crime under control.
“Crime in Washington, D.C., is totally out of control,” Trump wrote. “Local ‘youths’ and gang members… are randomly attacking, mugging, maiming, and shooting innocent Citizens… starting at age 14, they must be prosecuted as adults and locked up for a long time.”
“If this continues, I am going to exert my powers and FEDERALIZE this City,” Trump warned. “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Arrests Made, But Others Still Free
Police arrived in time to intervene, causing most of the attackers to flee. Two 15-year-olds—a male and a female from Hyattsville, Maryland—were arrested and charged with unarmed carjacking.
Both suspects were identified by Coristine at the scene. The other assailants remain at large.
Police said Coristine told officers the group had made a comment about taking the car just before the attack began. The teen suspects surrounded him while he attempted to defend his girlfriend.
Outrage Grows Over Juvenile Crime
The attack is just the latest in a disturbing wave of violent youth crime gripping the nation’s capital. Coristine’s case drew national attention not only because of his heroism but because it underscored the growing sense of lawlessness in Democrat-run cities.
Trump’s call to prosecute violent juveniles as adults reflects a growing demand from Americans for real consequences for those who terrorize innocent citizens—no matter their age.
