The Democratic National Committee (DNC) faced ridicule Thursday for a now-deleted X post highlighting soaring grocery prices under President Joe Biden. The post, meant to criticize former President Donald Trump, inadvertently showcased Biden-era price spikes.
The DNC shared the post from its @TheDemocrats account. It featured a graph showing rising costs for cheese, alcohol, dairy, groceries, produce, and meat since October 2019, with a major spike starting in 2021 under Biden.

Graph Sparks Controversy
The post’s caption read, “Trump’s America.” It claimed prices were higher than in July 2024 across major categories, without citing a data source.
The White House rapid response X account labeled the price jumps as occurring under Biden. The graph, highlighted in red, showed most increases during Biden’s term, with stable prices under Trump forming a small portion.

Social Media Reactions
Social media users called out the DNC’s error.
“I don’t know … Kinda looks like Biden’s America,” X user Matthew Rosario commented.
Conservative podcaster Kyle Becker called it “one of the dumbest posts in @X history.” He noted the DNC deleted it after heavy criticism.
X user “Greg” labeled it “the biggest self-own I’ve ever seen on this website.”
Inflation Data Comparison
Under Biden, inflation hit a 40-year high of 9.1% in June 2022, 17 months into his presidency.
Food prices rose over 22% during Biden’s term, per federal data.
Since January 2025, food prices under Trump have increased by about 0.6%.
