Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche spent a full day interviewing Ghislaine Maxwell at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tallahassee, Florida, according to Maxwell’s attorney.
Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking, reportedly cooperated fully with the Justice Department during the meeting.
“Miss Maxwell answered every single question… truthfully, honestly, and to the best of her ability,” said attorney David Oscar Markus.
Blanche reportedly traveled from Washington to Florida to conduct the interview personally.
New Evidence Allegedly Coming
Maxwell’s brother Ian said she is preparing to submit new evidence related to her 2021 conviction, which her legal team claims was influenced by government misconduct.
“She will be putting before that court material new evidence… which would have had a significant impact on its outcome,” Ian told reporters.
The nature of this new evidence has not been disclosed publicly.
Congressional Subpoena Issued
The development comes just weeks before Maxwell is scheduled to testify under subpoena from the House Oversight Committee.
The deposition is set for August 11, also at the Tallahassee prison facility.
DOJ: Maxwell May Have More to Share
The Department of Justice confirmed its interest in meeting Maxwell, but only if she could provide details on other individuals involved in criminal activity tied to Epstein’s network.
“This DOJ does not shy away from uncomfortable truths,” said a statement from the Department, reiterating that its July 6 joint statement with the FBI still stands.
That statement concluded that the FBI’s latest review of Epstein-related files turned up no evidence to warrant charges against uncharged third parties.
