Dog the Bounty Hunter’s Grandson, 13, Shot Dead by Father in Tragic Accident

Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman and his wife Francie Chapman are grieving a devastating family tragedy after Francie’s 13-year-old grandson, Anthony Zecca, was accidentally shot and killed by his father, Gregory Zecca, in their Naples, Florida apartment.

Authorities say the shooting was a tragic accident and have labeled it an “isolated incident.” No charges have been filed at this time.

The Victim: A Joyful, Faith-Filled Young Man

Anthony, remembered as a joyful and faith-filled boy, had previously spent the summer with his grandparents. In 2023, while visiting Francie in the ER after she suffered an ankle injury, Anthony told a touching story of how he felt the Holy Spirit:

“The doors didn’t open, but I felt the wind again,” he said, describing what he believed was a spiritual encounter.“It was the Holy Spirit.”

Anthony was a Christian, loved comic books, dancing to Usher, and attending Comic-Con events, often posing with his favorite characters.

The Shooter: A Father, Team Member, and Gun Enthusiast

Gregory Zecca, 38 — Francie’s son from a prior marriage — is reportedly part of Dog’s bounty hunting team and has posted photos in the past showing himself and his son at a shooting range. The teen’s death appears to be accidental, and local law enforcement has not released further details.

A Family Bound by Grief and Faith

Duane and Francie Chapman, who began dating in 2020, bonded over mutual grief. Duane lost his wife Beth Smith to cancer in 2019, while Francie lost her husband Bob Frane in 2018.

“We understood the pain the other was feeling… and we helped each other stand up,” Francie told Entertainment Tonight.

The couple will mark their fourth wedding anniversary this September and continue to honor their shared mission of faith, restoration, and healing.

Fighting for a Cause Amid Personal Loss

On November 15, the Chapmans will host the 3rd Annual F.U.S.E. Restored Gala in Cape Coral, Florida, a benefit supporting the fight against human trafficking. The Hollywood glam-themed event will take place at The Westin of Cape Coral at Marina Village.
