Former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is expected to testify behind closed doors next month as part of the House Oversight Committee’s expanding investigation into whether President Joe Biden’s top aides covered up his cognitive decline and helped execute executive actions without his knowledge.
According to Fox News, Jean-Pierre is one of four former senior Biden officials set to testify in the coming weeks.
Who’s Testifying?
-
Karine Jean-Pierre — Former White House Press Secretary: Sept. 12
-
Ian Sams — Former White House Counsel’s Office Advisor: Aug. 21
-
Andrew Bates — Former Deputy Press Secretary: Sept. 5
-
Jeff Zients — Former White House Chief of Staff: Sept. 18
They join Ron Klain, Biden’s first chief of staff, who is also expected to appear voluntarily this month.
What’s Under Investigation?
Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) is leading a probe into whether:
-
Biden’s staff executed official actions using an autopen without the president’s full awareness
-
Top aides conspired to conceal signs of Biden’s mental and physical decline
-
Aides or family members carried out the duties of the presidency without proper legal authority
According to Comer, the White House may have orchestrated a wide-ranging cover-up to maintain the appearance of Biden’s competence throughout his presidency.
Previous Witnesses Pleaded the Fifth
Comer has already deposed four former Biden insiders—including Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s longtime physician, and Anthony Bernal, Jill Biden’s top aide.
Both invoked the Fifth Amendment, raising red flags about what they might be trying to hide.
Now, Comer is turning up the heat.
Comer’s Committee Eyes Jill Biden
Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) is publicly calling for First Lady Jill Biden to be subpoenaed, following revelations that her staff may have played a central role in executing presidential authority during Biden’s decline.
