Yesterday we told you that President Trump had secured Madison Square Gardens for a big rally just nine days before the election. Trump is trying to win over New Yorkers and he believes he can do it.
But one New Yorker, a state Democrat whose district includes Madison Square Gardens, actually compared Trump’s future rally to a Nazis rally that was held at the same location back in 1939.
Brad Hoylman-Sigal called on Madison Square Gardens to cancel the Trump rally because he claimed it would endanger public safety and “incite widespread violence” or something.
I’ve confirmed with @TheGarden that they signed an agreement with Trump to hold a rally on October 27 at 3 pm at MSG, which is in my Senate district 1/3 https://t.co/3g0aM7KzYN

Let’s be clear. Allowing Trump to hold an event at MSG is equivalent to the infamous Nazis rally at Madison Square Garden on February 20, 1939 2/3
— Senator Brad Hoylman-Sigal (@bradhoylman) October 9, 2024
This is a disastrous decision by Madison Square Garden that will endanger the public safety of New Yorkers and has the potential to incite widespread violence.
For the good of NYC and its residents, I demand @TheGarden keep our city safe by cancelling the Trump rally 3/3
— Senator Brad Hoylman-Sigal (@bradhoylman) October 9, 2024
This is absolute lunacy. Trump holds big rallies all over the country and has held them in New York during this election cycle. Nothing like what this moron senator fears has ever happened. Even remotely. Hoylman-Sigal is just making crap up in order to pressure Madison Square Gardens to cancel Trump’s rally because he hates Trump. That’s what this is all about.
Here’s a few replies to Hoylman-Sigal’s ridiculous tweet:
You’re trying to deny New Yorkers their right to engage in the democratic process. In the United States, citizens have a protected right to hear politicians speak.
People like you are the threat to democracy you warn about.

As a Democrat, I find this extremely unbecoming and undemocratic. Barring political candidates from speaking is NOT what we do in an actual democracy.

Let’s be clear you trying to keep a major presidential candidate who’s actually in the lead right now from holding a rally means you are the one being the Nazi.
Look in the mirror. I think it’s called projection what you were doing right now.

These are great responses and there’s a lot more where this came from. Hoylman-Sigal certainly got an earful.
