The would-be Trump assassin, Ryan Routh, was arrested in 2002 for having “weapons of mass destruction”, which is a felony. But somehow he only got probation for it:

I think one of the biggest questions from yesterday’s attempted assassination is how in the world Routh had access to information about where Trump would be and when, especially when he was on the golf course. As far as I know that isn’t public information and so the next big question becomes who else was involved. This is assuming someone leaked the private information to him.
