U.S. Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) plans to lead investigations against various Trump allies, including tech mogul Elon Musk and White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller. However, during a recent CNN segment, Garcia did not specify any crimes that would warrant such investigations.
While discussing this on State of the Union, host Dana Bash pressed Garcia on why he suggested that Miller should “lawyer up.” She inquired directly about any criminal activities that Miller might have engaged in.
Garcia labeled Miller as “the architect of this horrific unjust policy” regarding immigration, referencing incidents involving federal agents and the Trump Administration’s broader immigration policies. He emphasized the need for scrutiny over these actions.
When asked if he believed Miller’s actions to be criminal, Garcia remarked on the unconstitutional and unjust nature of Miller’s decisions, but he failed to cite any specific legal violations.

Attorney General Todd Blanche responded to Garcia’s warning, pointing out that Miller already has legal representation. He expressed concern over Garcia’s comments, which he deemed to be unnecessarily aggressive.
Furthermore, incoming House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jamie Raskin (D-MD) has expressed intentions to target law firms associated with the Trump Administration. His focus includes firms that altered practices based on executive orders issued during Trump’s second term.
Raskin criticized major law firms that he believes have succumbed to pressures from the Trump Administration, outlining plans to investigate their compliance with subpoenas. He asserted that his committee would hold accountable those who fail to uphold the law.
