Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell has provided an uplifting update after a shocking neck injury left him motionless on the field during a match against the Minnesota Vikings.
At 26 years old, Campbell announced on Wednesday that he has regained full mobility in his lower body, with progress being made in his upper body as well. This news comes as a relief to fans who witnessed the alarming incident at Ford Field.
The All-Pro linebacker sustained the injury while tackling Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson during the fourth quarter of Detroit’s narrow 19-15 victory.
For several minutes, Campbell remained face down on the turf while medical staff rushed to assist him. The atmosphere was tense as he appeared immobile while trainers conducted evaluations, raising serious concerns about his condition.
Medical personnel securely placed Campbell on a backboard before transporting him off the field on a cart, with teammates and coaches nearby in a state of worry.
The Lions initially shared limited details about his status, revealing on Monday that he was recovering at a local hospital and that early evaluations were promising.
However, Wednesday brought the most significant news yet.
In a heartfelt statement released by the Lions, Campbell expressed his gratitude for the tremendous support and shared that his recovery is progressing positively.

Campbell emphasized that his Christian faith has been a source of strength throughout his recovery journey, sharing a powerful message of trust in God during uncertain times.

STATEMENT FROM JACK CAMPBELL
My family and I want to sincerely thank everyone for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers, and support we’ve received over the past few days. It means more to us than words can express.
I’m incredibly encouraged by the progress I’ve made in such a short period of time. I have full movement in my lower body, and I’m continuing to make progress with movement in my upper body. I know there’s still work ahead, but I remain very optimistic. I’m taking things one day at a time, staying positive, and focusing on getting better.
My faith in God has never been stronger. I know He has a plan for me, and I trust in that plan. I know there may be challenges ahead, but with my faith, my family, and so many people in my corner, I know we’ll get through this.
I especially want to thank the athletic trainers and medical personnel who responded and cared for me on the field. I know those were difficult moments, and I’m incredibly grateful for the professionalism, compassion, and care you showed me. The way you handled everything and looked after me when I needed it most is something I’ll never forget. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
I also can’t say enough about the incredible care I’ve received from the medical team at Henry Ford Hospital and the Detroit Lions medical staff. They’ve been amazing to me and my family throughout this process, and I’m truly grateful for everything they’ve done.
To my teammates, coaches, and everyone in the Lions organization, I want you to know how much I love and appreciate you. This team is a family to me, and the way everyone has been there for me means everything. I’m proud to be a Detroit Lion and couldn’t ask to be surrounded by a better group of people.
One thing I’ve learned about Detroit is that this city is built on toughness, resilience, and grit. That’s exactly how I’m going to approach this challenge.

“Please continue to keep me and my family in your prayers. We feel the love, and I can’t thank everyone enough.”
“God is good. My faith is strong.”
Lions head coach Dan Campbell shared his relief and happiness at hearing from his injured player, emphasizing how significant it was to receive that update directly.
“Anytime, especially being able to hear it from him, that means a lot. That’s powerful in itself, more than hearing it from me or anybody else,” he commented to reporters.
He noted that Campbell’s condition continues to improve as the medical staff keeps a close watch on his recovery.
Currently, the linebacker is in his fourth NFL season after Detroit selected him with the 18th overall pick in the 2023 draft.
He has had a breakout 2025 season, achieving 176 tackles, five sacks, three forced fumbles, and nine tackles for loss, earning first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors.
This impressive performance led to a four-year, $81 million contract extension in the offseason, solidifying his role as a key player on Detroit’s defense.
While Wednesday’s update is encouraging, Campbell has not yet provided a timeline for his return to the field, and the extent of his long-term recovery is still uncertain.
For now, the emphasis remains on his health as he continues to recover. Just days after being carted off the field due to a frightening incident, Campbell has reassured that he has regained full movement in his lower body, with improvement in his upper body and his firm dedication to recovery.
