Ohio Gubernatorial Hopeful Draws Fire for Slurred Speech

Amy Acton, the Democratic candidate for governor in Ohio, has sparked controversy with her recent campaign speech, where her slurred delivery led to comparisons with former Vice President Kamala Harris.

During the event, marked by a backdrop reading “FIGHTING FOR TOLEDO,” Acton awkwardly referred to the signage. “Truth and justice, I just wrote on the word… words back here. That is… I am honored to be here,” she remarked, with noticeable hesitation and a mid-sentence correction.

Critiques of Speech Clarity

Footage from the evening revealed Acton mixing up transport terms while discussing her travels compared to those of her opponent, Vivek Ramaswamy. “Not in a big Jeep flying over like Ohio’s a fly—I mean in a big jet. He’s flying in a Jeep,” she stated.

Conservative commentators reacted strongly to her performance. Eric Daugherty from Florida’s Voice claimed, “Amy Acton is HAMMERED,” noting her speech sounded as if she were intoxicated. Jack Posobiec echoed this sentiment, suggesting the footage resembled “Kamala Happy Hour vibes.”

Continued Controversy

Loomer Unleashed highlighted the Jeep/jet comment, questioning, “Um, is Amy drunk again,” while contributor Charles Downs criticized her clarity, deeming her unfit for the governorship. Some users dubbed her “the white Kamala.”

This isn’t Acton’s first encounter with such scrutiny. During a Labor Day event, she made repeated statements about Ohio not being purchasable, which also raised eyebrows regarding her eloquence.

In response to the backlash, Acton’s campaign has dismissed allegations of substance abuse linked to a 2019 incident, insisting she was not under the influence at the time.
