On Tuesday morning, federal agents targeted a mansion in Beverly Hills linked to disgraced former Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell, marking a significant step in an ongoing investigation.
This FBI action reflects the escalating legal issues facing the former congressman from California, who stepped down earlier this year in the wake of numerous sexual misconduct allegations.
The raid occurred mere months after Swalwell’s residence in Washington, D.C., was searched and electronic devices were taken from him at San Francisco International Airport.
Sources reveal that the recent operation is tied to allegations of sexual misconduct, though Swalwell was not arrested or detained during the incident according to reports.
At least five women have accused Swalwell, including a former congressional aide, of serious misconduct or rape.
He had previously been a candidate for California’s governorship but abandoned his campaign and resigned from Congress in April, as the allegations jeopardized his political future. Having served 13 years in Congress, he faced the possibility of expulsion.
Swalwell stated, “I will fight the serious false allegations made against me. However, I must take responsibility and ownership for the mistakes I did make.”
The latest raid also comes amidst another controversy regarding Swalwell’s past involvement with a suspected Chinese intelligence operative.

Recently declassified FBI documents disclosed Swalwell’s admissions of having intimate relationships with Christine “Fang Fang” Fang, a woman believed to be linked to Chinese intelligence.
Swalwell reportedly told federal agents about multiple “physical relations” with Fang, the last occurring in March 2015 per records.
This relationship has heightened scrutiny considering the potential for foreign intelligence influence over American officials.
Fang’s connections are said to involve China’s Ministry of State Security, the nation’s main civilian intelligence body, with her family also tied to this network.
Federal authorities interrogated Swalwell regarding his ties to Fang both in May 2015 and March 2016.
The latest developments come on the heels of renewed attention from the White House’s Government Transparency Task Force, further complicating Swalwell’s situation.
Tuesday’s raid in Beverly Hills adds another layer to the federal inquiries into Swalwell, though no formal charges have yet been publicly disclosed against him at this time.
