Alina Fernandez, the daughter of the late dictator Fidel Castro, recently appeared on live TV where she was questioned about a persistent rumor suggesting that Justin Trudeau, former Prime Minister of Canada, could be her half-brother. Her response was evasive yet intriguing.
During her segment on NewsNation’s Katie Pavlich Tonight, Fernandez discussed various topics including Cuba’s humanitarian struggles and U.S. sanctions, but the focus shifted to the enduring conspiracy that keeps resurfacing.
Host Katie Pavlich asked her, “For years we’ve heard rumors that Justin Trudeau, the former prime minister of Canada, could be your half-brother. What do you think about it?”
Fernandez’s reaction was telling, suggesting there might be more to the story than has been publicly confirmed.

“The only thing I can say is that his mother used to visit the country very often,” she noted, which only fueled the speculation.
Pavlich responded, “Well that may be a tell then. I guess that’s a half answer.”
Fernandez agreed, indicating that the connection deserves further consideration. When asked if she planned to reach out to Trudeau to clarify the situation, she replied, “No, no. If he wants he’s welcome but I won’t, I won’t.” She added that Trudeau likely wishes to keep it private, which is something to respect.
The idea that Castro might be Trudeau’s biological father has circulated online for years and was notably mentioned by Donald Trump in his 2024 Save America book. Supporters of this theory often point out that Fidel Castro is said to be Trudeau’s real parent rather than Pierre Trudeau. However, it’s important to note that Pierre and Margaret Trudeau’s first visit to Cuba took place in 1976, five years after Justin was born in 1971.
