Kerry Sheron, a 69-year-old Army veteran and proud owner of the so-called “Trump House” in San Diego, was brutally attacked near his home. His wife has conveyed that his chances of recovery are exceedingly low.
Responding to reports of an assault at approximately 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Escondido police found Sheron suffering from critical injuries, with a utility worker restraining the assailant.
Sheron was rushed to a trauma center, where he was listed in critical condition in the ICU as of Thursday evening.
His wife expressed her despair over his injuries, remarking that he holds “no hope” for recovery following the violent encounter, as reported by the New York Post.

The “Trump House” has become a notable landmark in the community due to its prominent displays of American flags, Trump memorabilia, and MAGA messages. Sheron’s Facebook page mentions previous vandalism incidents, including damaged flags.
Situated in the Midway-East neighborhood of Escondido, this residence has gained attention for its political significance.
At the scene, Thomas Caleb Butler, 32, was apprehended and charged with first-degree attempted murder. He is currently held at the Vista Detention Facility without bail, awaiting arraignment. A conviction could lead to a life sentence.
Butler, a Navy veteran who experienced unemployment, was reportedly battling severe PTSD, which a family friend noted could manifest as debilitating paranoia when untreated. He lived just blocks away from Sheron’s home.
This friend also revealed that Butler had an appreciation for the Trump House and was registered as a Republican. Authorities assert that Butler did not personally know Sheron, indicating that the attack lacks any apparent political motivation, while the investigation is still ongoing.
