In a startling turn of events, Fox News Media has severed ties with a senior executive from FOX Weather following a sting operation by James O’Keefe’s Citizen Journalism Foundation. The investigation revealed shocking claims about expense-account spending.
Jason Hermes, who served as vice president of content sales and partnerships at FOX Weather, was caught on camera suggesting he could indulge in extravagant spending at a strip club using company funds and then have it reimbursed.
“You could take this (Fox corporate credit card), walk into a strip club, literally, and spend $4,000, go into your corporate manager and they would sign it and pay it off,” Hermes disclosed to the investigator. He further justified such actions by claiming, “And we’d be like, ‘Well, that’s what the client wanted.’”
Additionally, Hermes candidly described the perks of his position. “It’s the best job, because I’m a celebrity around all of it, but no one knows me,” he stated, referring to his role as akin to hitting the jackpot.

The video quickly garnered millions of views, forcing a public response from Fox News, which acted decisively to terminate Hermes.
In an official statement, the company announced, “Jason Hermes has been terminated. The comments he made during a personal outing grossly misrepresented his position at FOX Weather and within the larger company.”
They elaborated, stating, “Expense reports are subject to a sophisticated review and auditing process, and his wildly bizarre claims were immediately investigated, which we are in the process of finishing. We have found no evidence whatsoever that they are true.”
This incident underscores the impact of undercover journalism as Fox asserts that the remarks made do not reflect reality and that their internal controls are robust against such misrepresentations.
Barrett Media, focusing on the media industry, confirmed the firing while providing updates about daily coverage of news and sports media.
