CNN commentator Scott Jennings recently expressed serious concerns about an uptick in political violence from the left in America. He referenced multiple assassination attempts against Donald Trump and other high-profile conservatives as evidence of this growing issue.
These comments came in the aftermath of a dangerous incident at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, where an armed individual tried to breach security as President Trump and various officials were present.
Rising Anxiety Among Conservatives
During a charged discussion, Jennings conveyed that the increasing frequency of these violent episodes is making conservatives uncomfortable. He pointed out, “You can understand why we’re on edge as conservatives, though. Three times the president, Steve Scalise, Brett Kavanaugh, Charlie Kirk.”
Moreover, Jennings emphasized that the ongoing threats and hostile rhetoric directed at right-leaning figures contribute to a heightened sense of danger.
“Conservatives are rightfully on edge because this keeps happening over and over and over again, and people keep calling Donald Trump a Nazi, and they keep calling him a fascist,” he remarked.
He also criticized the persistent falsehoods perpetuated about Trump, linking these narratives to a hazardous political landscape. “They keep repeating lies about him that are not true, yet they keep getting repeated regarding Epstein and other things,” he added.

On a personal note, Jennings mentioned that the pervasive climate of violence weighs heavily on him, stating, “I have a knot in my stomach about it every day that I wake up.” He drew from personal experience, noting the murder of a friend and the attempts on Trump’s life.
The incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner involved a man from California who allegedly tried to break through security while armed, prompting gunfire. Thankfully, law enforcement subdued him before he could cause harm to attendees.
No fatalities were reported during the incident, although one officer sustained injuries that are expected to be non-life-threatening due to protective gear.
