Trump Clashes with ’60 Minutes’ Host Over Gunman’s Claims

President Trump faced off with “60 Minutes” anchor Norah O’Donnell in a charged exchange following an assassination attempt against him and other officials. The incident occurred just a day before their interview.

The discussion turned particularly tense when O’Donnell inquired about Cole Tomas Allen, the gunman who had expressed a desire to kill Trump in a manifesto. Allen’s document characterized Trump as a “fascist” and included the baseless narratives linking him to controversial figures.

When O’Donnell quoted the shooter’s allegations of being a “rapist” and “pedophile,” Trump quickly rebuffed the notion, accusing her of sympathizing with the assailant. “I was waiting for you to read that because I knew you would because you’re horrible people! I didn’t rape anybody. You read that crap from a sick person,” he stated, referencing the contentious E. Jean Carroll case.

“You should be ashamed of yourself reading that because I’m not any of those things,” Trump continued. He expressed outrage, insisting that presenting those claims on national television was disgraceful.

Later in the interview, Trump recounted his reaction when gunfire erupted nearby. He noted that he was determined to observe the situation rather than immediately seek shelter.

The president claimed he was unfazed, mentioning he had experienced similar threats before. He also commended the Secret Service and law enforcement for their swift action in preventing further chaos during the event, urging for a rescheduling of the dinner at the Washington Hilton.
