Insights on the Would-Be Trump Shooter’s Anti-Trump Manifesto

The 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen, hailing from Torrance, California, has been charged in connection with a shooting incident during the recent White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C. Reports indicate that he wrote a manifesto expressing his disdain for the Trump administration and his desire to harm Trump officials.

Allen was apprehended after allegedly breaching a security checkpoint armed with a shotgun and other weapons. Thankfully, a Secret Service agent was protected by a bulletproof vest and avoided serious injury.

Following the incident, Allen was taken to a hospital for questioning, while FBI agents and local law enforcement executed a search warrant at his California residence.

A U.S. official mentioned that Allen’s manifesto, discovered in his hotel room, explicitly targeted Trump administration officials, although an official transcript has yet to be released.

In addition to the manifesto, investigators found written documents in his hotel room. Reports indicate that Allen had sent some radical writings to family members prior to the attack, leading to a police alert.

Family members revealed that Allen had made extreme remarks and often spoke of taking action regarding perceived world issues. His social media profiles displayed anti-Trump and anti-Christian sentiments.

Relatives shared that he participated in a “No Kings” protest in California, aligning with a group known as “The Wide Awakes,” though details of his involvement remain undisclosed.

Investigation Insights

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche confirmed the belief that Allen aimed at members of the Trump administration, perhaps including the president himself. The intent, based on preliminary findings, was for significant harm and destruction.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro reiterated this view, stating the evidence so far indicates a clear intent to inflict severe damage. The investigation continues, with authorities analyzing further evidence from Allen.

Background Information

Allen traveled from Los Angeles to Chicago before reaching D.C. He checked into the Washington Hilton on the eve of the dinner. Notably, he legally purchased the shotgun allegedly used in the attack and also owned a semiautomatic pistol obtained more recently.

In his professional life, Allen was a tutor and admissions counselor at C2 Education, recognized as “Teacher of the Month” in late 2024. He also identified as an independent game developer with various titles to his name.

Allen registered to vote with no party affiliation but made a $25 donation through ActBlue to support Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign in 2024, according to reports.

Currently, Allen faces federal charges, including using a firearm during a violent crime and assault against a federal officer with a dangerous weapon, as stated by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro. Further charges may arise as investigations delve deeper into his motivations.

Arraignment is scheduled for April 27, with an indictment anticipated to follow.
