A 29-year-old engineer affiliated with NASA’s nuclear propulsion initiatives was discovered deceased in his burned Tesla following a horrific accident in Alabama. Reports indicate that his body was so severely damaged it became unidentifiable.
On July 22, 2025, Joshua LeBlanc died after his car hit a guardrail, crashed into multiple trees, and ignited, as per local authorities. Family members raised alarms when LeBlanc failed to arrive at work and suddenly stopped communicating.
They reported him missing at 4:32 a.m., particularly alarmed since he left his phone and wallet behind. This led to concerns that he might have been abducted.

Upon investigation, Tesla’s Sentry Mode footage revealed LeBlanc’s car had been stationary at Huntsville airport for about four hours that morning. His family noted that a trip to the west was not part of his itinerary.
The charred vehicle was found later that afternoon, with authorities identifying LeBlanc three days later through forensic science, given the state of his remains.

LeBlanc’s credentials were striking for his age, as he had spent over five years at NASA, serving as a team leader in the Space Nuclear Propulsion (SNP) Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Maturation project.

He was also a team lead for NASA’s Demonstration Rocket for Agile Cislunar Operation (DRACO), a nuclear thermal propulsion engine aimed at enhancing deep-space travel capabilities, as noted in various reports.
