President Donald Trump has thrown his support behind Eric Conroy in the Republican primary for Ohio’s 1st Congressional District, highlighting this seat’s pivotal role in the 2026 midterm elections.
The district covers a significant portion of Cincinnati and its surrounding areas in southwest Ohio. As per the Cook Political Report’s Partisan Voter Index, the district has a D+3 rating, indicating a slight Democratic leaning based on previous presidential election outcomes.
This seat is currently represented by Democrat Rep. Greg Landsman, who took office in 2022. Following recent redistricting, the competition is expected to be fierce, with both major political parties allocating resources to this race.
On Wednesday, Trump made his endorsement public after much anticipation.
“It is my Great Honor to endorse America First Patriot, Eric Conroy, who is running to represent the wonderful people of Ohio’s 1st Congressional District. He is running against Greg Landsman, a true Radical Left Extremist who does not represent the Values of Southwest Ohio and the Great City of Cincinnati,” the president posted on Truth Social.
Trump characterized Conroy as “one of the strongest Republican Candidates in the Country,” contrasting him with the incumbent, whom he described as a “weak Radical Left Democrat” jeopardizing the nation’s safety.
Furthermore, Trump commended Conroy’s military background, noting his service in the U.S. Air Force and the CIA. “In Congress, Eric will work hard to Grow the Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., Advance American Energy DOMINANCE, Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment,” he emphasized, reaffirming his “Complete and Total Endorsement.”
Thank you, President Trump!
