Great Barrington Resident Charged with Making Death Threats Against Trump

A 45-year-old man from Great Barrington, Massachusetts, is facing federal charges for allegedly threatening to kill former President Donald Trump through a series of Facebook posts.

Andrew D. Emerald was arrested after a federal grand jury indicted him on eight counts related to interstate transmission of threatening communications. These charges stem from posts he made between May 3 and July 7, 2025, threatening to harm Trump.

According to the indictment, Emerald, using the Facebook account “Andrew Dale Emerald Lmt,” made several alarming statements. In a post dated May 3, he made a chilling declaration about his intentions towards Trump.

Emerald further escalated his rhetoric in a May 13 post, declaring his determination to either see Trump dead by 2026 or to take matters into his own hands. His aggressive words put federal authorities on high alert.

In a June post, he detailed violent fantasies about publicly executing Trump, promising graphic retribution. He emphasized his intentions as a misguided sense of patriotism.

Emerald’s final threats were issued on July 7, reiterating his deadly promises towards Trump. His erratic online behavior had been noted previously, with similar threats made during Trump’s first term in 2018.

United States Attorney Leah Foley and FBI Boston Division Special Agent Ted E. Docks confirmed his arrest. After a standoff at his residence, where he brandished a sword, he ultimately surrendered peacefully after negotiations.

Each of the eight counts he faces could lead to significant prison time, highlighting the seriousness of his threats against the former president.
