New Insights Surface Following Tragic Murder of Loyola Student

Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich is introducing a theory related to the tragic murder of an 18-year-old Loyola University freshman, suggesting it could be connected to a gang initiation. He also claims that Democrats are attempting to conceal information about the suspect.

Blagojevich, a Democrat whose federal corruption sentence was commuted by President Trump in 2020, expressed on X that he believes Jose Medina-Medina, the illegal immigrant charged with the murder of Sheridan Gorman, committed the act to gain entry into a local gang.

He stated, “Sheridan Gorman’s killer is being held in isolation. I suspect Pritzker & the Dems are hiding him to COVER-UP the fact that this illegal immigrant killed an innocent young girl as part of a GANG INITIATION.” His extensive experience with gang culture led him to this conclusion.

The motive for the attack has not yet been established by authorities.

Gorman, a freshman at Loyola and originally from Westchester County, was shot on the Loyola Beach Pier around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday. Reportedly, she and her friends were out hoping to see the northern lights when they were suddenly confronted by a masked gunman.

As they attempted to flee, the suspect fired one shot, tragically striking Gorman in the head.

Medina-Medina, 25, a Venezuelan national, faces charges including first-degree murder and attempted murder. Evidence shows him allegedly firing the weapon, and police were able to identify him with help from his mother after circulating video footage of the incident.

The Department of Homeland Security reported that Medina-Medina was previously apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol in May 2023 and was released during the Biden administration. He also faced a shoplifting charge in Chicago in June 2023 yet was released again.

In response to the incident, the Illinois Venezuelan Alliance highlighted a rise in negative comments directed toward Venezuelans in the community and raised concerns about potential gang involvement. Luciano Pedota, the interim executive director, noted that most Venezuelans are hardworking individuals and emphasized that this situation involves a single bad actor.

Chicago police informed Fox32 that the motive remains unconfirmed.

Medina-Medina is expected to appear in court on Friday, having missed a previous detention hearing due to hospitalization for tuberculosis, according to reports.
