Over 100 Injured in Recent Iranian Missile Attacks on Israel

This weekend, more than 100 Israeli citizens sustained injuries in what officials are labeling as mass casualty incidents due to a barrage of Iranian missile strikes.

Iranian missiles targeted the southern cities of Arad and Dimona, causing extensive damage and injuries to civilians. Although the casualty numbers are alarming, officials have not confirmed any fatalities at this time.

Details of the Attacks

The missile strikes came shortly after a coordinated U.S.-Israeli operation hit Iranโ€™s Natanz nuclear facility, which Iran cites as the justification for its strikes. While some missiles were intercepted, others managed to hit their targets.

In Arad, emergency services reported that up to 88 individuals were wounded, with 10 classified as critically injured, including a young girl aged five, according to Magen David Adom. The Dimona incident resulted in another 39 to 60 injuries, with some victims in serious condition. Reports indicate a total of approximately 115 injuries across both locations.

Destruction was concentrated in populated areas. In Arad, a missile struck directly in the city center amid residential buildings, leading to severe damage and partial collapses of some structures.

Dimona experienced a direct hit on a building by a missile equipped with a heavy warhead. The city hosts the Shimon Peres Negev Nuclear Research Center, which is believed to have been the target of the attack.

Earlier that same day, another Iranian missile damaged a kindergarten in Rishon Lezion, thankfully without any injuries. In the aftermath of the attacks, schools across Israel suspended in-person classes.

Additionally, there were injuries reported from rocket fire by Hezbollah targeting Northern Israel earlier in the day.

โ€œI spoke with Mayor Yair Maayan of Arad to express, on behalf of all Israelis, our prayers for the victims,โ€ stated Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after the attacks. โ€œWe remain committed to retaliating against our adversaries on all fronts.โ€

The missile strikes occurred just before President Donald Trump issued a 48-hour ultimatum concerning the Strait of Hormuz. Trump has threatened to target Iranian energy sites if his demands are not met, while Iran has warned of retaliation against oil facilities in the Gulf States and desalination plants in Israel.
