Pentagon Prepares for Possible Ground Troop Deployment in Iran

The Pentagon is reportedly gearing up for a possible ground invasion of Iran, despite President Trump’s public assurances that no troops will be sent. Sources indicate that senior military officials have made extensive preparations, detailing the requirements for deploying American forces amid the escalating tensions with Tehran.

In private discussions, Trump is contemplating the deployment of ground troops, although the specific triggers for such a decision remain unspecified.

When questioned about troop deployment, Trump asserted, “No, I’m not putting troops anywhere,” emphasizing that if he were to do so, he wouldn’t reveal those plans. Meanwhile, U.S. Central Command has refrained from commenting, referring inquiries back to the Pentagon and White House.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt clarified that the planning process does not imply a final decision has been made. She emphasized that the Pentagon’s role is to prepare options for the Commander in Chief.

Military Preparations Underway

The military is proactively addressing potential worst-case scenarios, including plans for handling captured Iranian fighters. Reports suggest that operational planning includes protocols for the detention of any detainees.

Additionally, the Pentagon is arranging the deployment of Army units, including elements of the 82nd Airborne Division, known for their rapid response capabilities. This suggests a serious intention to enhance readiness across various military branches.

As part of this strategy, thousands of Marines are currently being deployed. Three warships carrying approximately 2,200 Marines have set sail from California, marking a significant military movement in response to the ongoing conflict. Another unit from the Pacific is also en route, although full positioning may take weeks.

These actions collectively illustrate the Pentagon’s commitment to ensuring all military options remain available to President Trump, even while the administration publicly adopts a more reserved stance.
