Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders encountered a troubling situation at The Croissanterie in Little Rock, Arkansas, where she was reportedly asked to leave while dining with local activists.
Sanders was eating lunch with two women identified as ‘moms,’ alongside her State Police Executive Protection Detail. After about an hour and 15 minutes, her group paid their bill, including a tip, before the owner approached her security detail.
The restaurant owner claimed that Sanders’ presence made employees feel threatened due to her political views, prompting the request for her to exit the establishment. Sanders later addressed the events publicly.
In her statement, she expressed disappointment in how her visit was handled, emphasizing Arkansas’s reputation for hospitality while stating, “my administration will continue to focus on lifting Arkansans up, not tearing others down.”
The Croissanterie later issued a statement, revealing that they had reviewed security footage and noted they initially decided against interrupting her meal. They expressed concern over the implications of allowing her to stay, considering the political climate and the beliefs of their staff.
As Sanders and her party departed, an onlooker reportedly made an offensive gesture towards her. The restaurant clarified this was the act of a customer and not one of their employees, promising to handle the matter internally.
