President Joe Biden is said to be receiving criticism from certain influential backers regarding his choice to withhold assistance to Israel in the event of an invasion of Rafah, where approximately one million civilians have sought shelter.
During an interview with CNN on Wednesday, the president firmly stated his stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict, asserting that aid to Rafah would be curtailed if the nation proceeds with an invasion. Haim Saban, a Democratic donor and Israeli American, expressed his disagreement with the president’s remarks in an email addressed to White House officials, as revealed in an email obtained by Axios.
“Bad, Bad, Bad, decision, on all levels, Pls reconsider,” Saban wrote in the email, according to Axios.
“Let’s not forget that there are more Jewish voters, who care about Israel, than Muslim voters that care about Hamas,” he added.
Saban held a fundraiser for the president at his residence back in February, as per Axios. After the gathering, Saban mentioned having a one-on-one discussion with the president regarding his backing of Israel in the current conflict.
“Biden cares deeply about Israel, it’s in his kishkes,” Saban said, according to Axios.
The president, who swiftly expressed support for Israel in the aftermath of Hamas’ Oct. 7 terrorist attack, has encountered significant criticism for his handling of the war. Both within his administration and campaign, members of staff have voiced their disapproval of the president’s pro-Israel stance. During events and speeches throughout the nation, Biden has frequently encountered pro-Palestinian protestors. On college campuses, anti-Israel demonstrators have established encampments and replaced the American flag with Palestinian flags.
However, the president is now facing backlash for not providing sufficient support to Israel as he considers restricting aid to the country. Prior to the president’s remarks, the Biden administration had allegedly been delaying the delivery of military equipment to Israel as a means of conveying a political message to the country’s leadership, as reported by Politico.
“There has never been a president more pro-Israel than Joe Biden but at the same time we are very concerned about what appears to be a significant shift in US policy,” Mark Mellman, the president and CEO of Democratic Majority for Israel, told Axios.
“There are a lot of people in the pro-Israel community who are very worried, very upset and very angry,” Mellman added. “We don’t know what the consequences are going to be politically.”
Occasionally, Howdy Doody will jump the shark and go off script. He angers the wrong people…as opposed to the right people.
There is no bigger influence in American politics than the “Jewish Lobby!” Anyone who doesn’t appease them, will not be the next President!
Mr Saban has a point, but he forgot all the Christian voters who also care about Israel, as well!
