Senior British Politician Arrested in Epstein-Related Leak Probe

Former UK Ambassador to the US Lord Peter Mandelson has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, London police said Monday.

Peter Mandelson, 72, was led out of his London home by officers Monday afternoon following allegations that he leaked sensitive British government intelligence to Jeffrey Epstein.

The former diplomat appeared stony-faced as he was placed into the back of an unmarked car.

Mandelson previously faced scrutiny over his association with Epstein, the convicted sex offender whose network of high-profile contacts has drawn international attention.

Authorities said the investigation centers on claims that Mandelson shared confidential information while serving in public office.

Then-Business Secretary Lord Mandelson allegedly tipped off Epstein about potentially market-sensitive decisions, according to several email exchanges released by the US Department of Justice.

The case echoes the controversy surrounding Prince Andrew, the brother of King Charles III, who has also faced allegations tied to Epstein.

Andrew is accused of sending sensitive information to Epstein while he was working as a trade envoy.

Officers executed search warrants at Mandelson’s residence in Camden, north London, as well as at a property in Wiltshire, southwest England, according to the Metropolitan Police.

ITV News caught footage of the arrest.

“I can confirm that officers from the Met’s Central Specialist Crime team are in the process of carrying out search warrants at two addresses, one in the Wiltshire area, and another in the Camden area,” Deputy Assistant Commissioner Haley Stewart told the Sun.

“The searches are related to an ongoing investigation into misconduct in public office offences, involving a 72-year-old man,” they added.

Mandelson’s reported ties to Epstein have fueled political backlash in the UK, with critics targeting Prime Minister Keir Starmer over his decision to appoint Mandelson as ambassador to Washington.

Starmer has claimed Mandelson “lied” to him about the “depth and darkness” of his relationship with the Wall Street sex offender.

Mandelson’s arrest comes days after Prince Andrew was detained on suspicion of misconduct in public office on his 66th birthday.

Authorities have not announced any charges in either case.
