Guthrie Family ‘Source’ Reveals New Version Of Kidnapping Story, Changes Major Detail

A Guthrie family “source” has revealed a new version of the timeline surrounding Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, shifting a key detail in the case and raising fresh questions about how the alarm was first triggered.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was reported missing after she failed to attend a virtual church service she regularly watched with friends, according to the source.

The service was broadcast from a New York City church, where her daughter, Today show host Savannah Guthrie, 55, attended in person, Fox News reported, marking a change from earlier accounts that tied the service to a Tucson church.

According to the family source, Nancy and fellow worshippers rotated hosting watch gatherings in one another’s homes.

When the Tucson, Ariz., resident did not arrive to watch with her unidentified friends on the morning of Feb. 1, concern grew, and the alarm was raised, the source said.

That account differs from previous reports that said the alert was triggered after Nancy failed to log in for a virtual service connected to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Tucson.

The Daily Mail previously reported that Nancy had attended church virtually since COVID, but noted there was no way to determine who was watching online at any given time.

That raised questions about how her absence could have been detected if no one knew whether she had logged in or not.

The Daily Mail said it has not independently verified the new claims provided by the Guthrie family source to Fox News.

On Monday evening, a second and final ransom deadline demanding $6 million in Bitcoin for Nancy’s return passed with no sign of her.

Savannah Guthrie later took to Instagram, pleading for help to end her family’s “nightmare” and saying they were “desperate” for new leads.

According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Office, Nancy’s daughter, Annie, and son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, realized she was missing around 11:10 a.m. last Sunday.

Her disappearance was reported to police at 12:15 p.m. Her phone, wallet, car, and daily medications were all left behind at her $1 million Catalina Foothills home.

Nancy had dinner at Annie and Cioni’s home, about four miles away, on the night of Jan. 31. Cioni dropped her off around 9:45 p.m. local time and said he watched his mother-in-law enter through the garage before driving away.

Investigators later found drops of blood on Nancy’s front porch, which were confirmed to be hers. Her doorbell camera was disconnected around 1:45 a.m.

Less than 30 minutes later, a security camera detected movement at the home. Shortly after that, Nancy’s pacemaker stopped transmitting data to her Apple Watch and phone, suggesting she had been taken out of range.

Nancy requires medication every 24 hours, and authorities have said it remains unclear whether whoever abducted her has ensured she has access to her meds.
