Amid the escalating border crisis during President Joe Biden’s term, Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) has accused the administration of diverting resources from veterans to illegal immigrants. In her role as Senate Republican Policy Committee Chair, Ernst remains committed to advocating for both border security and the well-being of our nation’s heroes.
No matter how the Biden admin tries to spin it, their border crisis is out of control.
We must secure the border to keep Americans safe. https://t.co/JMg5UaQzLU— Joni Ernst (@SenJoniErnst) April 2, 2024
Ernst is advocating for a stop to the redirection of resources meant for veterans to illegal immigrants. She is backing a bill that aims to stop the current administration from misappropriating veterans’ funds. Ernst, a military veteran, publicly criticized the president for favoring immigrants over veterans and shifting resources away from veterans during the escalating border crisis.
“President Biden’s border crisis is so out of control that his administration is willing to steal from our nation’s heroes and divert resources away from their care,” she said.
“This shouldn’t be up for debate: immigrants who have broken our laws should not receive priority over American veterans, period,” she added, vowing to “continue demanding border security and standing up for those who defended our freedoms and way of life.”
The issue arises as there are reports that the Biden administration is utilizing resources and staff from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to offer healthcare services to undocumented immigrants in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention.
