‘Blind Side’ Star Rushed To Hospital Following Severe Home Accident

“The Blind Side” actor Quinton Aaron, who portrayed former NFL offensive lineman Michael Oher in the Oscar-winning film, is on life support and “fighting for his life,” according to his manager and a fundraiser set up on his behalf.

Aaron, 41, collapsed while walking up the stairs at his home in Atlanta after his legs suddenly gave out, his manager told TMZ. He has spent the past three days hospitalized in Atlanta, where he was placed on life support because of a severe blood infection.

A GoFundMe organized by Veterans Aid Network says the actor is “fighting for his life” and describes the ordeal as sudden and overwhelming for his family.

“This has been sudden, frightening, and overwhelming for his loved ones,” the organizer wrote.

“As he fights for his life, his family is facing an immense emotional and financial burden — medical expenses, living costs, and the uncertainty of how long this road to recovery may be,” the page added.

The fundraiser also praised Aaron’s character and impact.

“Quinton has spent his life inspiring others, reminding us that compassion and humanity still matter in this world. Now, as he fights one of the hardest battles of his life, let’s surround him with that same love,” the organizer wrote.

Aaron is currently in stable condition, communicating with loved ones and receiving appropriate care, his manager told TMZ. Doctors are continuing to run tests and evaluate his condition as they work to determine what caused his fall.

His manager thanked fans for the “outpouring of love, prayers, and well wishes.”

According to the GoFundMe page, medical bills are “piling up,” and the family is seeking help to cover Aaron’s ongoing medical needs.

The hospitalization comes just months after Aaron revealed he had lost 200 pounds as part of a major weight loss journey.

It also follows a series of recent health scares. In March 2025, Aaron was rushed to a California hospital after developing a fever and coughing up blood, TMZ reported. Doctors at the time believed he was suffering from Type A flu and pneumonia. He also battled a severe upper respiratory infection in 2019.

Aaron is best known for playing Michael Oher in the 2009 Warner Bros. blockbuster “The Blind Side,” which starred Sandra Bullock as Leigh Tuohy. Bullock won an Academy Award for her performance in the film, which tells the story of how Oher was taken in as a teenager by the Tuohy family and later went on to play in the NFL.
