On Friday, U.S. House Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) filed a motion to vacate against House Speaker Mike Johnson after the body passed a $1.2T spending bill.
Greene shared a clip of remarks that she made on the steps of the U.S. Capitol in a post on X and explained why she made the move.
“The ‘Republican-controlled’ House just passed a $1.2 trillion spending bill that doesn’t secure our border, but funds full term abortion and trans ideology on our youth,” Greene declared.
Greene explained, “I filed a Motion to Vacate because the House needs a Speaker who’s able to win for Republicans and our constituents.”

In another post on X, Greene shared an interview that she gave to CNN’s Manu Raju on Capitol Hill and further elaborated on her decision.
Greene said that she believes, “The current Speaker has shown he cannot stand up to the Democrats.”
“I filed a Motion to Vacate because it’s time the American people have leadership in Congress that will fight for their values and stop funding the left’s agenda,” Greene added.
During the interview, Greene said that she has heard from multiple Republican constituents who plan to back her effort.
