The potential accuracy of a recent report may heighten existing worries among voters regarding President Joe Biden’s mental acuity.
NBC News revealed that Biden expressed anger and confronted his top advisors and aides in a private meeting back in January upon learning that he was trailing behind Trump in key states like Georgia and Michigan. Sources present in the room confirmed these details to journalists from the outlet.
“The report painted a picture of a re-election campaign that was — and is — in disarray less than a year before Nov. 5, when Biden will most likely face off against Trump — again — in a general election,” the Western Journal reported.
According to the NBC report, Biden has been in disagreement with his advisors for several months on the most effective approach to persuade voters to grant him a second term, especially considering his historically low approval ratings, the migrant crisis he is responsible for, persistent inflation, escalating food and gas prices, and excessively high lending rates.
However, the recent attacks by Hamas on Israel on October 7th and Israel’s subsequent declaration of war against the terrorist organization have further complicated the situation for Biden.
Initially, Biden supported Israel, but many individuals on the far left have taken Hamas’ side.
Two months ago, NBC News reported that during discussions between Biden and his aides regarding his diminishing support from pro-Palestinian Democrats, he expressed his frustration.
“In a private meeting at the White House in January, allies of the president had just told him that his poll numbers in Michigan and Georgia had dropped over his handling of the war between Israel and Hamas,” NBC News reported.
“Both are battleground states he narrowly won four years ago, and he can’t afford any backsliding if he is to once again defeat Donald Trump.
“He began to shout and swear, a lawmaker familiar with the meeting said,” the report added.
Biden’s frustration stems from his belief that he has effectively fulfilled his duties but is not receiving the recognition he deserves, especially in terms of the economy, as reported by individuals present at the meeting.
Additionally, there have been clashes between Biden and his advisers regarding the messaging strategy for his campaign.
The president has expressed his dissatisfaction with his senior staff due to the lack of resonance in his messaging on job growth during his term.
Concerns about Biden’s age and fitness to lead have led his inner circle to advise him to walk faster, although they worry that this may increase the risk of him tripping.
Biden has taken precautions to prevent falls, such as using a shortened staircase to board the presidential jet.
Despite his advisers’ belief that he can defeat his likely challenger, former President Donald Trump, in a rematch, they are concerned about his declining approval rating, which currently stands in the high 30s.
Recent surveys have shown that Biden’s approval rating is lower than that of the last three presidents who failed to secure a second term, including Trump, George H.W. Bush, and Jimmy Carter.
Trump has been consistently out-polling Biden in various swing states since the beginning of the year, according to multiple surveys.
