Officials running the Biden campaign have announced a significant ad buy in battleground states as part of President Joe Biden’s campaign efforts. The Biden campaign is launching a six-week, $30 million ad blitz in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and North Carolina. This ad campaign aims to highlight various Biden initiatives on climate change, abortion, and address concerns about the president’s mental acuity. It aligns with the administration’s broader push to gain support among black Americans and young people, especially as Biden trails behind Trump in the polls.
The campaign promotes five key talking points, including COVID-19 recovery, reducing prescription drug costs, the bipartisan infrastructure deal, climate change efforts, and safeguarding abortion rights. Political consultant Patrick Bonsignore is leading the ad buy, which is expected to be a billion-dollar campaign. The ad specifically targets minorities and young voters, with a focus on social media platforms and cable networks such as ESPN, TNT, FX, and Comedy Central.
While it’s too early to determine the impact of Biden’s State of the Union address on his reelection chances, recent national polls show him falling further behind his likely GOP rival. These polls, conducted in late February, often placed Trump ahead of Biden, surpassing the margins of error.
The Wall Street Journal noted:
“In the latest Wall Street Journal poll ahead of the State of the Union address, Republican Donald Trump holds a narrow lead over Democrat President Biden in a head-to-head test of the expected 2024 presidential matchup, with 47% backing Trump and 45% picking Biden, a difference within the survey’s margin of error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points. In December, Trump led by four points.”
