After weeks of speculation and rumors, former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and American pop superstar Katy Perry have officially publicized that they are in a relationship.
The first public indications of a possible romance appeared in late July 2025, when the two were photographed together on a private dinner date at Le Violon, a restaurant in Old Montreal. Additional sightings followed in August and September 2025, including Trudeau attending Perry’s Lifetimes Tour concert in Toronto and the pair being seen together at a charity gala in Paris in early November 2025.
The two finally decided to make the relationship official on Saturday, December 6, when Perry posted a series of photos and a short video on Instagram featuring herself and Trudeau in Tokyo during a tour stop. The primary image showed the couple in a close selfie, while a follow-up clip depicted them sharing sushi at a conveyor-belt restaurant.
Perry captioned the post, “Tokyo times on tour and more. All the love to you! .” Neither party has given further public comment beyond the post as of this report.

Both Trudeau and Perry were both previously in long-term marriages that ended in separation.
The “Dark Horse” singer was first married to British comedian Russell Brand and political commentator Russell Brand from October 2010 until their divorce in July 2012 after 14 months.
Following several shorter relationships, she began dating actor Orlando Bloom in January 2016. The couple became engaged in February 2019 and welcomed their daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, in August 2020. After multiple periods of separation and reconciliation, Perry and Bloom permanently ended their relationship this past June.
In 2005, Trudeau married Sophie Grégoire, a Canadian television host and yoga instructor. They have three children together: Xavier (born 2007), Ella-Grace (born 2009), and Hadrien (born 2014).
On August 2, 2023, the couple announced their separation after 18 years of marriage, stating they would continue co-parenting. The separation was legally finalized in early 2025.
Trudeau left office back in March after serving as Canada’s prime minister for nearly a decade.
