NEW: White House Releases Trump’s MRI Results

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Monday pulled back the curtain on President Donald Trump’s October MRI, reading out a detailed medical report that declared the commander-in-chief in “excellent” shape.

Trump’s health has been a favorite target for the press in recent months, especially after it emerged he underwent a second routine physical this fall that included an MRI. Leavitt made clear the imaging turned up nothing alarming and showed a president in solid condition.

“As part of President Trump’s comprehensive executive physical advanced imaging was performed because men in his age group benefit from a thorough evaluation of cardiovascular and abdominal health,” Leavitt said from the podium.

Leavitt kept going, laying out the findings point by point. “The purpose of this imaging is preventative to identify any issues early, confirm overall health, and ensure the president maintains long-term vitality and function,” she read. “President Trump’s cardiovascular imaging was perfectly normal. No evidence of arterial narrowing impairing blood flow or abnormalities in the heart or major vessels. The heart chambers are normal in size, the vessel walls appear smooth and healthy, and there are no signs of inflammation or clotting. Overall, his cardiovascular system shows excellent health.”

At 79, Trump is the oldest man ever to be inaugurated president, and press speculation has only intensified with photos of bruising on his hand earlier this year and images of swollen legs over the summer. Trump and Leavitt have repeatedly brushed aside the chatter, pointing to clean bills of health from exams in April and again in October that found he “remains in excellent health.”

Leavitt said the MRI confirmed the conclusions drawn from previous examinations. “His abdominal imaging is also perfectly normal. All major organs appear very healthy and well perfused,” she read. “Everything evaluated is functioning within normal limits with no acute or chronic concerns. In summary, this level of detailed assessment is standard for an executive physical at President Trump’s age and confirms that he remains in excellent overall health.”

“Again, we will provide that to you,” she added. “I think that’s quite a bit of detail. And in the effort of transparency, the president promised it last night and we have delivered today.”

Trump himself previewed the report Sunday night, calling it “perfect” and stressing the scan did not involve his brain. “If they want to release it, it’s OK with me to release it,” he said. “It’s perfect.” He added, “If you want to have it released, I’ll release it.”

The renewed scrutiny mirrors the Biden years, when the White House tore into journalists for tiptoeing around then-President Joe Biden’s cognitive and physical decline. The media’s interest didn’t spike until election season, when Biden faced pressure from his own allies to abandon his re-election bid. He ultimately bowed out in July 2024.
