Israeli Military Launches Ground Offensive in Gaza City

Israel has launched a major ground offensive in Gaza City after days of heavy airstrikes.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the mission is to dismantle Hamas infrastructure, rescue hostages, and secure control of the city.

Operation Gideon’s Chariots

The campaign continues Operation Gideon’s Chariots, which cleared Hamas positions in southern and central Gaza.

The 98th and 162nd Divisions are advancing into Gaza City, with the 36th Division preparing to join.

Tens of thousands of Israeli troops are mobilized for the assault.

Heavy Strikes Overnight

Israeli aircraft hit more than 850 targets before the ground push began.

The IDF reported killing hundreds of Hamas fighters and destroying tunnel networks.

Hospitals in Gaza City said dozens of bodies and wounded were brought in.

Dr. Mohamed Abu Salmiya of Shifa Hospital said the bombing never stopped.

He urged civilians to evacuate south using designated corridors.

Families were seen traveling south by car and on foot with belongings piled high.

Israeli Leadership Speaks

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the ground operation in Gaza City.

He paused testimony in his corruption trial to make the announcement.

Defense Minister Israel Katz said Gaza City is burning under Israel’s strikes.

He promised the mission will not stop until Hamas is defeated and hostages freed.

Diplomatic Efforts

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Qatar’s leaders in Doha.

He warned there is only a “very short window of time” for a hostage deal.

Families of hostages protested outside Netanyahu’s residence demanding action.

They said they are terrified for their loved ones as the fighting escalates.
