Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk, has been placed on “special watch” at the Utah County Jail.
Officials said he is being evaluated to determine whether he poses a risk to himself or others.
Suicide Threats
According to The New York Post, Robinson previously threatened to kill himself rather than surrender to police.

Law enforcement sources said his father intervened after recognizing him in FBI-released photos.
Robinson’s father, a veteran police officer, convinced him to surrender.
Robinson was taken into custody Friday morning after the confrontation.
He is now being held without bail at the Utah County Jail.
Authorities confirmed he has been placed on “special watch” status.
The Assassination
Charlie Kirk, 31, was murdered Wednesday during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University.
Robinson allegedly fired from a rooftop, striking Kirk in the neck.

The conservative leader was rushed to the hospital but pronounced dead.
A probable cause affidavit says Robinson confessed to family members before the shooting.
A relative contacted a family friend, who then alerted the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities began tracking Robinson based on the tip.
Surveillance Footage
Cameras captured Robinson walking near the campus at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday.
Minutes later, he was filmed running across the rooftop seconds after the gunshot.

Officials said he fired from the Losee Center building, about 200 yards from the stage.
Robinson’s father confronted him after seeing surveillance photos released Thursday.
Sources say Robinson initially said he would rather die than turn himself in.
The father contacted a minister before bringing his son in to authorities.
Additional Revelations
On Saturday, reports confirmed Robinson shared a home with a transgender partner, Lance Twiggs.
FBI officials said Twiggs is cooperating fully with the investigation.

Text messages and communications between the two were seized as evidence.
Robinson faces aggravated murder charges, the only charge in Utah that carries the death penalty.
He also faces felony firearm and obstruction charges.
Prosecutors said formal filings will be made early next week.
