Federal investigators say they have identified a name of the person of interest in the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, though no arrest warrant has yet been issued, according to CBS News.
FBI Releases Photos, Offers Reward
On Thursday, the FBI Salt Lake City field office published two surveillance photos of a man they are seeking to identify in relation to the shooting:
A lanky male, head-to-toe in dark clothing.

Wearing a dark hat, wraparound sunglasses, and a long-sleeve shirt featuring an American flag and eagle design with the words “Land of the free, home of the brave.”

“We are seeking the public’s help in identifying this person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. Call 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit tips at fbi.gov/UtahValleyShooting,” the FBI wrote on X.
The bureau has offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to the suspect’s identification and arrest.
The Assassination
Kirk, 31, founder of Turning Point USA, was gunned down Wednesday afternoon by a sniper positioned on the rooftop of Utah Valley University’s Losee Center while he was addressing about 3,000 people at the kickoff of his American Comeback Tour.
The fatal .30-06 Mauser bolt-action rifle was later recovered in a wooded area near campus, wrapped in a towel.

Inside were engraved cartridges with apparent transgender and Antifa slogans, though DOJ officials caution forensic analysis is still underway.
Witnesses reported seeing a dark-clad figure fleeing across rooftops moments after the shot.
Multiple False Leads
Authorities have detained and released two other individuals mistakenly linked to the attack:
A 71-year-old man who falsely confessed and was charged with obstruction.
A second younger man who was interrogated and later cleared.
Investigation Continues
The FBI said it has collected:
Palm and footwear impressions from the sniper’s nest.
A forearm imprint in rooftop gravel.
Surveillance footage from nearby homes believed to capture the gunman fleeing through backyards.
The manhunt remains ongoing, with officials warning the killer may still be at large in the region.
