Five police officers were shot in York County, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday.
Three officers were killed and two others remain hospitalized in critical condition.
Deadly Shooting
The incident began as a follow-up to a domestic-related case.
Officers attempted to serve a warrant at a farm in North Codorus Township.
The suspect opened fire from a nearby cornfield as police approached.
Three Northern York Regional Police officers were shot and killed instantly.
The gunman then engaged York County sheriffs near the house.
Two sheriffs were struck before one officer returned fire.
The shooter was killed at the scene by law enforcement.
Investigation Ongoing
Pennsylvania State Police Col. Christopher Paris confirmed the details Wednesday night.
He called the crime scene “large” and “active” with investigators working overnight.
Paris said authorities know the suspect’s identity and employer but did not discuss motive.

The Pennsylvania State Police Major Case Team is leading the investigation.
The York County District Attorney’s Office is assisting with significant resources.
Officials assured residents there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
State and Federal Response
Governor Josh Shapiro called it a “tragic and devastating day.”
He praised the fallen officers for serving “this county, this commonwealth and this country.”

Attorney General Pam Bondi condemned the attack as “a scourge on our society.”
She pledged full federal support to Pennsylvania authorities.
FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed agents are on the ground.
He asked for prayers for the victims, families, and the York County community.
Witness Accounts
A witness told WGAL he heard about 30 shots ring out.
He described seeing officers on the ground before being told to leave.
“I saw the police in the barn look like they were looking for someone. And then, I heard the gunshots rang and I saw people on the ground, and I got clear,” Miller said.
“More police were still rolling, and they were coming in from all directions. It wasn’t long till I heard a helicopter … It was quite, quite an event when you saw people on the ground.”
Emergency dispatchers first received 911 calls at 2:10 p.m.
Nearby schools temporarily sheltered in place but those orders were lifted.
Officials urged residents to avoid the area during the active response.
Previous Shootings
This marks the second deadly police-involved shooting in York County this year.
In February, Officer Andrew Duarte was killed during a standoff at a local hospital.
Wednesday’s mass shooting has left law enforcement grieving again.
Col. Paris said, “The grief will be unbearable, but we will bear it.”
Authorities will provide an overview of the case on Thursday.
