The Sugar Bowl College Football Playoff Game, set to take place on New Year’s Day, has been postponed after a deadly attack in New Orleans left more than a dozen people dead and several more injured.
According to Jason Williams, the district attorney of Orleans Parish, who was in a press briefing with law enforcement officials, the game will be postponed to Thursday “at the exact same time.” Sources confirmed the same information to NBC affiliate station WDSU.
The Superdome, which was set to host the quarterfinal game between Georgia and Notre Dame Wednesday night, had been on lockdown for security sweeps after a truck plowed into a New Year’s crowd about a mile away.
The game had been scheduled to kick off at 7:45 p.m. local time (8:45 p.m. ET/5:45 p.m. PT).
People with offices in the Superdome — including officials with the Sugar Bowl and Sun Belt Conference — were told not to come into work until further notice.

New Orleans police have reviewed surveillance video that appears to show several people planting potential explosive devices in advance of the vehicle attack, which led them to believe he was not “solely responsible,” sources said. While city officials are calling this a terrorist attack, the FBI is apparently not. Here’s a clip from an earlier press conference:

The FBI states that the New Orleans mass casualty incident is “not a terrorist event” and “improvised explosive devices (IEDs) that was found” and the FBI is working to confirm if it’s a “viable” device or not.
New Orleans Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick confirms there are 10 confirmed d-aths and 35 injured with possibly more injured at surrounding hospitals.
The man opened fire on New Orleans Police Officers after crashing his vehicle and sh-t two officers who are both in stable condition.
New Orleans had barricades set up but the suspect drove around them and “was H-llbent on creating the carnage and d-mage that he did.”
How is this not a terrorist event? At the very least this is domestic terrorism because it seems the motive was to murder and maim as many as possible.
I’ll have more from the press conference after 11AM.

: President-elect Trump just posted about the terrorist attack.
“When I said that the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in our country, that statement was constantly refuted by Democrats and the Fake News Media, but it turned out to be true. The crime rate in our country is at a level that nobody has ever seen before. Our hearts are with all of the innocent victims and their loved ones, including the brave officers of the New Orleans Police Department. The Trump Administration will fully support the City of New Orleans as they investigate and recover from this act of pure evil!”
