President Trump’s nominee for Director of the FBI was just confirmed by the US Senate despite several Republican defections. Patel was narrowly confirmed by a vote along party lines. The vote was 51-49.
Among the Republican defections were Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski.

Shockingly, McConnell was not one of them, as he voted ‘yes’.
