Videos Show Devastating Aftermath of Deadly July 4th Flood in Texas

Shocking new footage released by Breitbart Texas and other outlets captures the full scope of the Independence Day Flood that tore through Kerrville, Texas, and the surrounding Hill Country — leaving at least 27 dead and more than 20 young girls missing from a nearby Christian summer camp.

The flood hit early Friday morning, July 4th, as Americans celebrated the nation’s birthday. But in Texas, it was a scene of horror, not fireworks.

Wall of Water Obliterates Entire Region

A massive stalled storm dumped over nine inches of rain in just a few hours, causing the Guadalupe River to rise more than 26 feet — faster than any flood seen since 1987.

In one video, trees are flattened, cars are mangled, and homes are ripped off their foundations as the water surged through the region like a tsunami.

One vehicle after another is seen marked with search-and-rescue indicators, showing where responders had checked for bodies or survivors.

A second video shows a local highway bridge nearly swallowed by the river — a bridge that normally sits 25–30 feet above the waterline.

“The water climbed at least 26 feet in just three hours,” Kerrville officials reported.

20+ Girls Still Missing from Camp Mystic

The most heartbreaking part of this disaster? Between 20 and 25 girls from Camp Mystic, a Christian sleepaway camp along the Guadalupe River near Hunt, Texas, remain missing.

Camp Mystic serves girls between the ages of 7 and 17. Their cabins were reportedly swept away in the dark early hours of the flood. Crews continue to search the banks, waterways, and debris fields in hopes of finding survivors.

“We are just praying,” one mother told CNN, still waiting for news about her missing daughter.

Boats, Rescuers Flood Area as Search Continues

Breitbart footage shows rescue crews launching boats into fast-moving floodwaters near northwest Kerrville, where debris litters every corner and families begin to comprehend the scale of destruction.

The City of Kerrville released its own video showing the river bursting over its banks, consuming roadways and crawling up the hillsides.

“It’s total devastation,” one responder said off-camera.

Due to FAA restrictions, Breitbart was unable to fly drones over the region, but ground footage shows the massive scope of damage — one house after another engulfed in muddy, debris-filled water.

More Flooding Expected This Weekend

As the storm moved northeast, weather officials warned more flash flooding is possible throughout the weekend, adding urgency to the ongoing search-and-rescue efforts.

Kerr County authorities say this is the worst flood to hit the area since 1987, when another flash flood claimed 10 teenage lives in a tragic church bus incident.
