Trump’s ‘Nuclear’ Button Prank in Oval Office Terrifies Vance, Ends in Big Laughs

President Trump is a comedic genius who doesn’t let up even during tense situations. Nowhere is that more evident than with a recent story told by Vice President JD Vance.

It’s a solid moment of levity following a long day of Trump delivering several fiery comments toward Israel and the Squad.

Vance delivered keynote remarks on Tuesday at the Ohio Republican Party dinner in Lima, Ohio. There, he recalled witnessing a tense diplomatic call in the Oval Office early on in their administration in which Trump was having trouble getting through to an unnamed foreign leader.

That’s when the President decided to send his Veep into a full-blown panic.

“The President looks over at me, puts the foreign leader on mute, and says, ‘This is not going very well,’ and he presses the red button,” Vance told the audience. “My eyes get really big and I’m like, ‘Mr. President, what just happened?’”

“He looks at me and goes, ‘Nuclear.’”

After a brief moment of shock, it was revealed that Trump had not, in fact, pushed the nuclear launch button, easing the tension in the room with laughter.

“Two minutes later, a guy walks in with a Diet Coke, and he looks back at me and says, ‘It wasn’t nuclear, it’s just the Diet Coke button,’” Vance said to laughter. “So that’s the kind of guy, my fellow Republicans, we have as the President of the United States.”

To be able to play up his characterization of being a loose cannon in such a funny manner is vintage Trump. Making America funny again.

The President has famously shown an affinity for soft drinks over the years, especially Coke products. He installed a special button in the White House during his first term as president, allowing him to have the beverage promptly delivered to him.

Biden removed the button during his stay, but Trump had it reinstalled.

Earlier, Vance noted how much “excitement” he’s had serving in his role as Vice President, especially following a day in which Trump laid down the hammer on Israel, Iran, AOC, and New York’s “Palestinian Senator” Chuck Schumer.

“I wonder if other VPs had as much excitement as I do?” he wrote on X, adding a laughing while crying emoji.
